Ming Zhao, PhD

Co-Founder and CSO

Dr. Zhao currently holds dual appointments as the Chief Scientific Officer at Durametrix and Associate Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. His research efforts have led to many awards and new discoveries in the fundamental roles of phospholipid membranes, and the development of diagnostic biomarkers for human diseases. He is the inventor of the Tc99m-HYNIC-Duramycin technology and has since worked closely with a team of scientists to optimize the approach for translation at Durametrix. Dr. Zhao is a biochemist by training and has an extensive background in multi-modality imaging, imaging technology development, radiochemistry, cellular and tissue level imaging studies and image processing. He holds an established track record in industrial and federal funding and publications in imaging and in vivo toxicity testing. Prior to establishing his own lab, Dr. Zhao received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital.
